Cash Raffle Summary

The Riverside Country Club was filled to capacity when our Optimist Club held its annual Cash Raffle Party on Saturday, March 3rd. This is believed to be our most successful raffle as all the tickets were sold and the tickets held out and sold during the raffle drew many anticipating winners. All but one of the final 10 tickets was represented and there was no pooling together – each went for the big cash prize. The last ticket drawn was the individual not present, but of course he still collects the cash!

A special thanks from our club goes out to Dr. Jeromy Myers, who chaired the event.  Club member Duncan Bailey also was very valuable in offering his past experience of chairing the event, plus club member Chad Kyger gets special recognition for selling the most tickets. Also, thanks to the numerous club members who volunteered their time during the event to assist in various capacities.

The food was great, the MC’s spiced up the event and a great time was had by those in attendance as you can tell by the many smiling faces.2018-03-OptimistRaffleFood1 2018-03-OptimistRaffleFood2 2018-03-OptimistRaffleFood32018-03-OptimistRaffleWorkers12018-03-OptimistRaffleWorkers22018-03-OptimistRaffleGuests3 2018-03-OptimistRaffleGuests2 2018-03-OptimistRaffleGuests1 2018-03-OptimistRaffleGuests42018-03-OptimistRaffleGroup2 2018-03-OptimistRaffleGroup12018-03-OptimistRaffleBartenders 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples142018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples2 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples3 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples4 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples5 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples6 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples7 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples8 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples9 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples10 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples12018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples13 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples12 2018-03-OptimistRaffleCouples112018-03-OptimistRaffleGuest32018-03-OptimistRaffleGuest1 2018-03-OptimistRaffleGuest2

Successful 2017 Cash Raffle

The Harper Creek Optimist club expresses thanks to all those who supported our main fund-raising event by purchasing a raffle ticket or simply volunteering their time as a club member. And special thanks to long-time club member Duncan Bailey who has chaired the event for the last number of years. The event was held at the local Riverside Country Club on Saturday, March 4th. This location has proved to be an excellent venue for our event and the catered meal, host beverages and service, late evening pizza, plus our DJ background music and sound system was well accepted by all.

All but 19 of the allotment of 300 tickets were sold this year. All the guaranteed monetary prizes that were designated on the official ticket were given away. The side board winner won $500 for purchasing the proper square relative to the first ticket number drawn from the drum. Six ticket holders of the final 10 tickets were not present and the remaining ticket holders pooled together and one of them was the $8,000 ticket holder. Those four participants each received a cash prize of just over $2,000! And most important of all; the money our club generated from this fundraiser will all be channeled back into the community.

Pictured below are long-time club members Al Miller, Craig Miller and John Peruzze. Al was the MC for the event, Craig assisted him with keeping track of the drawn tickets and John was the official ticket drawer. A Magical Presentation

Doug Gancer, grandson of club member Carson Gancer, provided our club with a touch of his magical expertise during our weekly meeting on January 19th. Club members and guests in attendance were mesmerized and perhaps a little confused with his professional presentation.

Doug, along with 5 other magicians will be the star performers at our club’s first Magic Show, which will be offered to the public on May 19th at the Harper Creek High School Auditorium. It will be a two hour spectacle starting at 7:00 PM. Tickets for the show are only $10 and will soon be available for purchase. This is a first-time fund raiser for our club and we are hoping for community support in our efforts; all proceeds from the event will be channeled back into the community for youth projects. Christmas Trees 2016

2016-12-optimistxmastrees1 The Harper Creek Optimist Club is again offering fresh-cut Christmas trees to the general public for a donation. They are available at Lakeview Ford located on 295 West Dickman Road in Battle Creek. Optimist members are working the project and are present to assist week days 4 to 8 PM and weekends 11 AM to 5 PM. This is a win win service project for the community and our club. The trees are donated to our club by Lakeview Ford and the donated money we receive for them is channeled back into the community to support youth projects. If desired, an Optimist club member will trim, warp and load your selected tree. A typical contribution is anywhere from $1 to $50. If you want a great looking “real” Christmas tree and want to support the youth of our community – stop by and our club will be sure you obtain the best Christmas tree ever!

Successful 2016 Cash Raffle & Thanks

The Harper Creek Optimist club expresses special thanks to all those who supported our main fund-raising event by purchasing a raffle ticket or simply volunteering their time as a club member. The event was held at the local Riverside Country Club on Saturday, March 5th. This location has proved to be an excellent venue for our event and the catered meal, host beverages and service, plus our DJ background music and sound system was well accepted by all.

All but 11 of the allotment of 300 tickets were sold this year; that is the best we have done in years! All the guaranteed monetary prizes that were designated on the official ticket were given away this year. The side board winner won $500 for purchasing the proper square relative to the ticket number that was the 150th draw. There was no pooling of the final 10 tickets and the winner of the last ticket drawn from the drum was not present to collect his $8,000 cash prize. He has been contacted and graciously accepted his winnings! And most important of all; the money we generated from this event will all be channeled back into the community.

Cash Raffle 2016

Cash Raffle

The Harper Creek Optimist club expresses special thanks to all those who supported our main fund-raising event by purchasing a ticket or simply volunteering their time as a club member. The event was held at the local Riverside Country Club on Saturday, March 7th. This location has proved to be a perfect venue for our event and the catered meal, host beverages and service, plus our DJ background music and sound system was well accepted by all.

Although our club did not sell the anticipated allotment of 300 tickets, the grand prize remained at $8,000 and every 25th ticket drawn was awarded the original specified monetary prize. The side board winner won $590 for purchasing the proper square relative to the ticket number of the 150th draw.  Seven of the top ten finalist ticket holders pooled together, but unfortunately for them, those were the first seven of the final tickets drawn – very unusual. No one was present representing the group of owners of the winning ticket and cash prize of $8,000 when it was the last one drawn from the drum!

Pictured below are Club President Chad Kyger (right), who also sold the most tickets for the event, and long-time Optimist club member John Sims, Sr., who was in charge of the side board entries.IMG_4009

Club members Dick Brown (left) and Ed Kirkland were sellers of the extra tickets that were held out and available to the lucky winners of the periodic raffle drawings during the event. Our last raffle was when only 25 tickets were left to be drawn!IMG_4013

Present for the festivities was our club’s newest member Robert Ridgeway; he was accompanied by his wife Lisa. Robert is the new Superintendent of the Harper Creek Schools.IMG_4007

Although not cash winners, Kellogg employees Ahuva (left) and Luci enjoyed their first Harper Creek Optimist raffle event.IMG_4010

Merle and Patty Coville were present and have continued to support our Optimist raffle event.IMG_4011

Successful Fundraiser

Our annual cash raffle fundraiser held on March 8th was a successful event! Special thanks to club member Duncan Bailey who again chaired the event, member Al Miller for emceeing the raffle, ClubTreasurer David Jackson for his bookkeeping services, all the club members who helped sell tickets before and during the event, Riverside Country club and staff for their very accommodating facility and the of course all those from the community who purchased tickets. Funds from the event will financially support the youth of our community. The catered food was great and the music provided by the DJ added to the fare. A good time was had by all (especially the winners) as you can tell by the smiling faces in the accompanying pictures.
